Doris Jean Ward, 92, of Norman, passed away on Friday, April 03, 2015.
Born on February
22, 1923, Doris was the daughter of the late Carl and Ollie Ray and grew up
in Sulfur, Oklahoma. As a young adult, she moved to Michigan where she
worked as a bookkeeper and Deputy Assessor for the city of Lincoln Park for
36 years. Upon her retirement, Doris returned to her roots in Oklahoma,
eventually settling in Norman to be near her daughter and grandson. She was
a hard worker and good provider for her family who enjoyed sewing, painting,
reading and doing crossword puzzles in her spare time. Doris will be
lovingly missed and remembered fondly by those who knew her.
Surviving family members include her daughter, Carla Blackburn of Oklahoma
City; her grandson, Mark Blackburn of Norman; and a host of nieces, nephews
and cousins whom she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents, Doris was
preceded in death by her brother, Jack Ray.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 6, 2015 at
Havenbrook Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 7,
2015, also at Havenbrook Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at the Moore
City Cemetery on 4th Street.
