Walter Ray Wheeler, 83, of
Norman passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2015. He was born on August 7, 1932
in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to his parents, the late Voy W. Wheeler and Lillian
Woodard Wheeler.
He grew up in Norman and attended Moore Public Schools as a young man. Following
school, “Dub” was drafted into the United States Army and served with honor in
the Korean War. He was a skilled sheet metal contractor and successfully
operated his own business, “Dub’s Sheet Metal.” He was also a member of Franklin
United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, Dub was preceded in death by his daughter, Machelle
Wheeler; brothers, Roland Wheeler, Bill Wheeler, Lonnie Wheeler, Jess Wheeler
and Fred Wheeler; sisters, Virginia Galusha, Mae Lundy, Katy Steiger, Louise
Jones and Ruth Bergy.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Havenbrook Funeral
Home, 3401 Havenbrook Street, Norman, Oklahoma with Pastor Rob Harris
officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairview Maguire Cemetery in Noble,
Oklahoma.
Dub is survived by his loving and devoted Wife of 64 years, Evelyne Wheeler;
Children, Darla Richerson and husband Bob, Stan Wheeler and wife Arleen, and
Doug Wheeler; Grandchildren, Bobby Richerson, Amanda Myers, Jon Richerson,
Jennifer Owens, Madison Wheeler, Caleb Wheeler and Cassidy Wheeler;
Great-grandchildren, Jessica Owens, Tawny Richerson, Madison Richerson, Aidan
Myers, Aria Richerson and Jonah Richerson; Sister, Edith Fox; Brother, Delbert
Wheeler; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Walter Wheeler to Franklin
United Methodist Church or to the charity of one’s choice.
Arrangements for Dub and his family were placed in the care of Havenbrook
Funeral Home of Norman. Online condolences may be shared at
