Roberson, Gary, 75, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2011 in Norman, Oklahoma. 

He was born November 3, 1935 in Darwin, Oklahoma to Merrill and Hattie (Wheeler) Roberson.  Gary moved to Norman in 1949 with his family and graduated from Norman High School in 1953.  He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1953 to 1957 and was stationed in Guam during part of his service.  While in the military, Gary was a weather meteorologist.  He married Jerita Reed in 1956 and they were blessed with three daughters, Marla, Shari and Karen.  He served 40 years in law enforcement with the Norman Police Department, the Sheriff's Office and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.  He enjoyed John Wayne movies and country music and collected eagles and knives.  Gary was a self taught musician playing the guitar, fiddle, banjo and piano.  He loved writing books about his family history and westerns.   He was dedicated to the many cats in his life.  

Gary is survived by his very special friend and companion, Diane Noah; two daughters, Marla Roberson and spouse Gypsey Teague of Pendleton, SC and Karen Reichert and husband Steve of Washington, OK; three sisters, Lois Pickard and husband Bob, Glorena Vela and Marilyn Harmon and husband Jerry all of Norman; grandchildren, Kris and husband Chris, Angi and husband Justin, Caleb and wife Becky, Andrea and husband Steven and Nathan; and four great grandchildren, Kaitlin, Landon, Shariden and Cassidy; and many life long friends. 

He is preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Shari Todd.

The family would like give a special thanks to Crossroads Hospice for the wonderful care given to Gary.

Memorials may be made to Make A Wish Foundation, 5201 N. Shartel Ave., OKC, OK 73118.  The family will be present for visitation from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M., Friday, July 1, 2011 at Havenbrook Funeral Home.

Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 2, 2011 in the Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel.  Arrangements are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home.  Online condolences may be made at www.havenbrookfuneralhome.com
