Blanche Ann (Manek) Winters

Blanche Ann Winters age 97 of Lexington passed away peacefully Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Gregston Nursing Home in Marlow. She was born on October 21, 1915 in Harrah, OK. Blanche was the 7th child of 11 children born to Pete Manek and Pearl (Phillips) Manek. Blanche grew up a farm girl living in the Harrah community. On the farm she learned how to work hard as a young girl and she continued that same work ethic throughout her life. As a teenager she began working for Wilson Meat Packaging Company in OKC where she later met her husband, J.C. Winters. They were married on July 14, 1938 in Moore, OK and made their home in the OKC area, where they raised three children, Carolyn, Ronald and Rock. Blanche worked for over 30 years at Wilson’s before retiring. In 1977 she and J. C. moved to a farm southeast of Lexington where she remained living until her health began to fail last year. Throughout her life, Blanche loved working in her flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed canning and cooking and was a fabulous seamstress. To her it was a fun making dresses for her granddaughters, sewing bedspreads and table cloths to give away to her family. She was preceded in death by: Parents: Pete and Pearl Manek, Husband: J.C. Winters on Nov, 15, 2005, Son: Ronald Winters, Seven brothers: Walter, Tony, Henry, Paul, Ike, Tom and Steve Manek She is survived by: Two children: Daughter: Carolyn Poteet-Linam of Marlow, Son: Rock Winters and wife Debbie of OKC, Three sisters: Nellie Woloszyn and husband Johnny of OKC, Anna Smith of OKC, Mary Foster of OKC, 4 grandchildren: Sterling Windsor and wife Valerie of McKinney, TX, Regina Hazel and husband Chris of Keller, TX, Ryan Winters and Laci Bowen of Lexington, OK, Brandy Curry and husband Kevin of Fountain Hill, AZ, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell. Interment will be at the Lexington Cemetery
