Mary Reed, age 77 of Lexington, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at the Purcell Municipal Hospital.

Mary Roberta May was born January 20, 1940 in Lexington, to Kurt May and Clara Louise (Cruse) May. She spent her early childhood in the Corbett Community where she began school at Valley Grove Country School. She graduated Salutatorian from Lexington High School with the Class of 1958. Mary married a young man named RC Reed on June 1, 1957. They made their home in Norman for several years before moving to Purcell in 1959. That same year, RC began working for Ken’s Red and White Grocery in Purcell as the butcher. They later settled in Lexington where they opened Reed’s Food Land Store. For the next 10 years, they worked every day, side by side, serving Lexington and the surrounding communities, and making lifelong friends along the way. Mary’s family was her life, and she greatly enjoyed following and supporting her grandsons, Lucas and Jake in the various activities. She adored her great grandchildren, and never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. She was a wonderful wife and mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She will be remembered as a wonderful cook and a true friend to many, and she will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by: Her husband, RC Reed and Her parents, Kurt & Clara May.

Mary leaves behind: Her son, Curtis Reed and wife Donita of Lexington; 2 grandsons, Lucas Reed and wife Lisa of Purcell and Jake Reed and wife Morgan of Lexington; 5 great grandchildren, Parker, Teegan, Ellie, Ember and Finley; Sister, Sue Mixon of Lexington; Brother, Van Higbee of Norman; 2 nieces, Rachel Pieper and Debbie Cheek; 1 nephew, Terry Mixon and And a host of other family and friends.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 23, 2017, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Lexington Cemetery. Arrangements by Wilson-Little Funeral Home of Purcell.
