Yevonne W. Newville, age 64 of Lexington, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2014. Yevonne was born July 17, 1950 in Ada, OK. She was the 4th of 5 children of Laverne L. Chambers and Wynona B. (Jenkins) Chambers. She spent her early years in Ada and later started school in Shawnee. Eventually, the Chambers family would settle in Purcell in 1966. Yevonne met a young service man. His name was Larry D. Newville from Lexington, OK, and on June 8, 1967, they were married. Together, they would raise their only son, Sean. In the beginning they traveled a bit, following Larry’s work, but moved back home to the Newville family homestead east of Lexington. Yevonne decided to return to school, taking jewelry design classes at OSU Institute of Technology in Okmulgee. She worked for Pritchett’s Jewelry in Purcell for a number of years and later at Zales in Norman. She later worked as a cashier and clerk for Ruby’s Inn in Purcell, only retiring when her health declined. Yevonne loved jewelry and was an avid collector of crosses. And she never missed a good old western movie, especially one with Joel McCray or Tom Selleck. But her first love was her family, and she cherished her time spent with them, and especially with her granddaughter, Ayden. Yevonne was a vibrant and lovely soul. She will be dearly missed!
She was preceded in death by: Her husband, Larry D. Newville; Parents, Laverne and Wynona Chambers and 2 brothers, Jerry Lee and Curtis Chambers.
