Gayle Jean Newville age 65 of Lexington, passed away after a brief illness, late Saturday night April 2, 2016 at the Lexington Nursing Home.
She was born May 8, 1950 in Purcell, Oklahoma. She was the youngest child of 12 children born to Hugh Jeremiah Newville and Ora B. (Yandell) Newville. Gayle was born with Down Syndrome and lived her entire life on the family farm, east of Lexington. Because of her failing health she recently moved into the Lexington Nursing Home in November of 2015. Gayle grew up a farm girl and briefly attended the Spring Hill School east of Lexington. She lived with her parents until her mother passed away in 1999. She continued to live in her home and was cared for by her brother Larry Newville until his passing in 2005, then by her nephew Sean Newville until moving to the Lexington Nursing home. Gayle was a very special person; she touched the lives of anyone who was lucky enough to know her. During her 65 plus years, the world was truly blessed by her presence. She never met a stranger and she was the epitome of unconditional love. She loved her family and always enjoyed being involved in the activities of her nieces and nephews. She was a collector and loved collecting baseball cards, dolls, snow globes, and anything relating to her favorite musical artist; Elvis Presley. For many years she attended the Spring Hill Freewill Baptist Church, east of Lexington close to where she grew up. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by: Parents, Hugh and Ora B. Newville; 2 sisters, Elsie Lousie Henderson and Velda Marie Newville; 5 brothers, Haskell, Hubert Earl, Elmo Lavon, Cecil Arnold and Harold Russell and Larry Dale Newville; She is survived by: Two sisters, Lucille Witt and husband Leon of Norman, Sue Ingraham and husband Keith of Springfield, MO. One brother, Vandell Newville and wife Nanette of Ocala, FL. Many nieces and nephews including Sean Newville and Angela Byrd of Lexington who looked after Gayle for the past many years. There are also many other great and great great nieces and nephews whom loved her dearly.
The family would like to thank Dr. Bryan Dye and his staff, the Purcell Municipal Hospital, all of the staff at the Lexington Nursing Home and Valir Hospice for their wonderful care of our precious Gayle.
