Russell Dean Mullen age 66 of Lexington, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, August 25, 2016 in OKC.
He was born March 15, 1950 in
Flagler, Colorado. Russell was the 2nd child of seven children born to Leon Ray
Mullen and Eunice Nadine (Kolb) Mullen. Russell grew up a country boy in
Colorado, later moving to Arkansas. He graduated from Gravette High School in
Gravette, AR in 1968. Two years later he married Patsy Booher and together they
raised two sons, Larry and Travis. As a young boy, Russell learned how to work
hard. He loved being outdoors and working with his hands. He soon learned the
trade as a carpenter from his father and grandfather and decided to make
carpentry a career. He moved to the Purcell-Lexington area in the early 1980’s.
While living in Purcell he met and later married Jeanie Juhree Willis-Watson.
They were married on November 1985 in Purcell. Now two families became one
close, loving family. Russell went to work for the Purcell Public Schools in
1993, working there for nearly 15 years before going back to being a carpenter.
For the past seven years he has worked with his son at Mullen Construction in
Norman. Russell was a faithful Christian and a member of the Sanctuary Church in
Lexington. He also served as an associate pastor and bible study teacher. He
loved reading his bible, playing card games and other games with his
grandchildren, going to the lake and mud racing with his son. He will be greatly
missed by his family and friends.
Russell was preceded in death by: Parents, Leon and Eunice Mullen; Son, Larry
Dale Mullen, Sister, Rhenea Mullen,
He is survived by: Wife, Jeanie Mullen of the home in Lexington, Children,
Travis Mullen and wife Erin of Norman, Wally Watson and wife Karrie of Tupelo,
OK, Shawna Tatum and husband Shane of Ada; Three brothers, Kenneth Mullen and
wife Catherine of N. Little Rock, AR, Dallas Mullen and Susie of Gravette, AR,
Marty Mullen and wife Cindy of Rogers, AR, Two sisters, Diana Byler of N. Little
Rock, AR, Melvina Helberg and husband Kent of Blackwell, OK; 9 grandchildren,
one great granddaughter, Father and Mother-in-law; Rance and Alice Willis of
Allen, OK. Also several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday, August 29, 2016 at Wilson-Little
Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell.
Interment will be at the Lexington Cemetery in Lexington Oklahoma.
