Arthur Doyle McGehee age 75 of Purcell, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, April 12, 2016.
He was born on
February 12, 1941 in Norman, Oklahoma. His parents were Alonzo McGehee and
Lillie Irene Bennett. Doyle grew up in Lexington, OK and attended the Lexington
Schools. At the age of 18 he moved to Norman where he worked and lived for the
next three years. On March 10, 1962 he married the love of his life, Linda
Matthews of Purcell. Together they made their home in Purcell a raised one
daughter, Stacy. Doyle loved working with his hands and repairing things. This
led him to his life long career as being a mechanic. He eventually became a
transmission specialist and working for 40 years at different auto dealership
and transmission shops in Norman and Purcell. Doyle’s major hobby was restoring
and collecting antique clocks and radios. He could fix or repair almost
anything, a real “handyman” and “Jack of all trades”. Doyle was blessed to have
so many friends and wonderful neighbors. He will be greatly missed by his best
friend, “Tizzy” his dog.
He was preceded in death by: Parents, Alonzo and Lillie Irene McGehee; Wife,
Linda McGehee who passed on Aug 24, 2015;
He is survived by: Only daughter, Stacy Benton and husband Ed of Purcell; 6 half
brothers and sisters, Glenn Wayne Richardson of McLoud, Roger Dale Smith of
Noble, Jerry Michael Smith of Norman, Barbara June Smith of Norman, Paula
Elizabeth Smith of Midwest City, Terrace Ann Carroll Rollins of Lexington; Many
nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and neighbors.
Graveside funeral services will be 10:00 am Monday, April 18, 2015 at the
Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, OK. Arrangements are by Wilson-Little Funeral
Home in Purcell.
