Fred Lee, age 88 of Lexington, passed away Monday, September 21, 2015, at the Lexington Nursing Home.
Fred James Lee was born July 7, 1927 in OKC, OK, the 2nd of 5 children born to Jasper James Lee and Beulah Edith (Pierce) Lee. Fred grew up in Oklahoma City and Pauls Valley area, and graduated from Elmore City High School in 1945. Two years later he met and married the love of his life, Ila Jean Lee. They were married on December 25, 1947, in Pauls Valley, OK. Together, Fred and Jean had 4 children, Anita, Kathy, Jim and Jeanna. For 17 years they lived in the Oklahoma City area before moving to Lexington in 1964. Fred served with the National Guard, 45th Infantry during the Korean War. He continued with the 45th Infantry and then the Army Reserves for 35 years. After retirement from the military, Fred enjoyed gardening, wood carving, painting, camping, fishing, hunting and playing guitar. Fred was a faithful Christian and active in church. While living in OKC, he and his family attended church at Christ Bible Tabernacle, where he served as the music leader. Fred always enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: His wife, Ila Jean Lee in August of this year; His parents, Jasper and Beulah Lee; Infant daughter, Anita Jean Lee; Two Grandsons, Jabari and Kenyon Brown; 3 brothers, Gerald D. Lee, Joe O. Lee and Glen Lee; Son-in-laws, Joe Sherman and Stan Patterson and Special nephew, Dewayne Clifton.
He is survived by: Three children, Kathy Patterson of Lexington, Jim Lee and wife Deena of Atoka, Jeanna Inman and husband Tom of Lindsay; Sister, Joyce Clifton of Wayne; Six grandchildren, Cindy Sherman Sendelbach and husband Joe of Norman, Teresa Sherman Brown and husband Kenyatta of Purcell, Heather Lee and husband Brian Landis of Duncan, Virgina Lee Elam and husband Mike of Alma, Arkansas, Jeffery Inman and wife Tosha of McLoud, Joshua Inman and wife Jordan of Mead, OK; Eight great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Thursday, September 24, 2015, at the Lexington Cemetery. Arrangements are with Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell. Send online condolences @wilsonlittle.com
