Bill Haley, age 65 of Lexington, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015.

Robert William Haley was born August 2, 1949 in Oklahoma City, OK. He was the 3rd of 5 children of Woody Gore Haley and Violet Mae (Smith) Haley. Bill was raised in Lexington and attended school there. After high school, he moved to California where he attended Barber School and even worked in the oil field for a short time.

Bill was drafted into the United States Marine Corp, and he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Bill married his life love, Ms. Peggy Lou Kelley, on September 17, 1975 in Grand Junction, CO. Together they raised son, Jeff and daughter, Susan. They made their home Norman for a few years before returning home to Lexington in 1995. Bill worked for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad as a switchman and brakeman, retiring after more than 37 years of service. Bill loved working outdoors, as he was a natural gardener, and most locals will remember his peach orchard. His passion and greatest joy was working his cattle. Bill cherished his family and especially his grandchildren. He looked forward to sharing and teaching his many life lessons with them and anyone who would listen. He was a wonderful husband and father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a good friend. He will be dearly missed!

He was preceded in death by: His parents, Woody and Violet Haley and His brother, Tommy Haley.

Bill leaves behind: His wife, Peggy of the home; Son, Jeff Farley and wife Jennifer of Norman; Daughter, Susan Phelps and husband Austin of Norman; Brother, Dwight Haley of Lexington; Sisters, Jean Whitaker of Lexington and Nancy Baca of San Antonio, TX; 6 grandchildren, Alex + Kendall Phelps, Josh + Mikayla Farley, John Dean, Jr. and Talor Newville 2 great grandchildren, Bryson and Colton and A host of other family and friends.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Friday, July 31, 2015, at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Lexington Cemetery. Arrangements by Wilson-Little Funeral Home of Purcell. Send online condolences at wilsonlittle.com
