Melvin Cagle, age 82 of Lexington, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2017, at the Norman Regional Hospital.

Melvin Dale Cagle was born January 29, 1935 in Chillicothe, TX, to Harvey Adam Cagle and Minnie Bell (Williams) Cagle. When he was eight years old, his family moved to Lexington, where he attended school, graduating with the Class of 1953. Melvin then attended the University of Oklahoma. On July 4, 1958 in Purcell, OK, Melvin married the love of his life, Miss Katie Sherman. Melvin worked construction with his dad Harvey, developing the Cagle Addition in Lexington. They built approximately 50 homes in the area. Melvin also worked for the US Postal Service as a rural mail carrier, retiring after more than 30 years of dedicated service. During this time, he also served as Lexington Fire Chief for several years. Melvin loved to travel all throughout the United States and took numerous trips to the Smoky Mountains. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Melvin was baptized in the First Baptist Church of Lexington. He was a loving husband and father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be dearly missed!

He was preceded in death by: His parents,Harvey and Minnie Cagle.

Melvin is survived by: His wife of more than 59 years, Katie Cagle, of the home; Daughter, Cheryl Henderson and husband Terry of Purcell; Son, Michael Cagle and wife Paula of Purcell; 4 grandchildren,Lauren Brickey and husband Jolian of Purcell, Zachary Henderson and wife Kristen of Lacy, Washington, Casie Henderson of Purcell and Shelby Cagle of Lexington; 2 step grandsons, Marcus Gillen and wife Tamara of Norman and T.J. Gillen and wife April of Purcell; One great-granddaughter, Ellia Katherine Brickey; Five step great-grandchildren, Marley, Whyatt, Cache, Hollis, and Faith Gillen;

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 29, 2017, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at the Lexington Cemetery. Arrangements by Wilson-Little Funeral Home of Purcell.
