Baker, J.C., 79,
passed away Thursday, August 30, 2012 in Norman, Oklahoma. He was born
January 15, 1933 in Wanette, Oklahoma to Elijah and Ruby Mae (Mandrell)
Baker. He was united in marriage on January 15, 1981 in Norman, Oklahoma to
Helen Williams.
J.C. was the Landscaping Ground Supervisor at Griffin Memorial Hospital for
30 years retiring in 1989. He enjoyed trout line fishing, watching OU
football and hunting with his bird dogs. He loved to cook for his family and
his specialty was smoking meats and vegetables. J. C. was an avid gardener
and in the early 80's won a prize for his periwinkles.
He is survived by his wife of the home, Helen Baker; son, Dale Clements and
wife Emma of Norman; four daughters, Deborah Myers and husband Gary of
Lexington, Marcy Hoff and husband Karl of Noble, Claudia Fields and husband
Richard of Norman and Joyce Fussell and husband Hutch of Norman; thirteen
grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by
his parents; his son, Elijah Baker; two brothers, Donald Baker and Vernon
Smith and sister, Cora Thompson.
The family would like to thank Loving Care Hospice and especially Brenda
Henslee for their care of J. C.
Visitation will be held 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 31, 2012 at
Havenbrook Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 1, 2012 at
the Lexington Cemetery, Lexington, Oklahoma. Arrangements for J.C. and his
family were placed in the care of the Vice family at the Havenbrook Funeral
