Walter Howard
Mitchell, 30, of Norman passed away Friday, February 14, 2014 in Norman. He was
born December 29, 1983 in Seminole, Oklahoma, to Bobby Frank and Mary Jane
(Sellers) Mitchell.
Walter was employed with ReRun Junction. He was Treasurer of People First and
involved in Among Friends which he attended once a week. Walter enjoyed the
outdoors, country music and attended several Special Olympic events. Walter
liked to joke around, make people laugh and he was easy to get along with. He
will be remembered by his family as a caring individual with a kind heart.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Frank Mitchell; and his
foster-brother, Shawn Potter.
Walter is survived by his mother, Mary Mitchell;
his foster parents Gary and Pam Linton; his three brothers, BJ, Kenneth and
Justin; his three sisters, Mary, Mildred and Vivian; his two foster-brothers, DJ
and Phillip; his foster-sister, Scotlyn; his many nieces and nephews; and his
special friends, Sue and Steve Favors, Julie Little, Ann Gallagher and Carolyn
Emery.
Visitation for Walter will be from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 18,
2014 and from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 19, 2014 with family
receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin at
10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 20, 2014 at the Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel,
3401 Havenbrook Street in Norman with interment following at
Independence Cemetery in Norman.
