J. B. Tadlock, 90, of Norman died Tuesday, Dec 24 in Norman from heart failure. 

J. B. was born on 24 July 1923 in Bokchito, Oklahoma, the son of Bennett & Alzada Tadlock. In 1940 he joined the CCC working in Wyoming. During WWII he served as an army medical tech in Kansas and Colorado. He married Jeanette Iris Kolterman on March 2, 1945 in Topeka,Kansas. They were married for 61 years until her death in 2006. When first married he helped his parents operate the Yellow Moon Cafe in Norman. He then went to work at the Veterans Administration in Topeka, Kansas helping give insulin and electric shock treatments. In 1951 he moved his family to Jeanette’s family farm in Onaga, Kansas being the 4th generation to help farm this homestead.  Her family was founding members of that community. While farming he also was a steel worker for the Union Pacific Railroad. In 1961 he moved to Norman to operate Tadlock Grocery Store #2 on Robinson St. After selling the grocery store, he joined the carpenter’s union working for various commercial companies building schools, churches, retirement centers and hospitals. J. B. retired in 1985. After retiring he was an avid vegetable gardener including fruit & pecan trees. He hunted and fished much of his life. In recent years he loved to go turkey & deer spotting. He loved his family, enjoyed family reunions, and working with his daughter Janice on genealogy. His favorite past time was watching TV and especially the OU Sooners.

He is survived by four children:  Janice Tadlock Papandrea and husband John Papandrea of Harrisburg, PA, Wayne Tadlock of Norman, Jerry Tadlock and wife Julie Tadlock of Oklahoma City, Jay Don Tadlock and wife Jill Tadlock of Norman;  15 grandchildren:  Nicole Michael and husband Kevin of Yukon, Tim Tadlock and wife Tracy of Yukon, Jill Papandrea Baglanis and husband John of Fallston, MD, and Annie Tadlock Albin and husband Matt of Moore, Jerry Tadlock Jr. and his wife Crystal of Moore,, and Jessica Tadlock Potter and her husband Brian of Oklahoma City; Stacey, Shannon and Jayson Tadlock of Norman; eleven great grandchildren:  Peyton & Cristian Tadlock, McKayla & Cade Michael, all of Yukon,  Emma Albin, Dade Albin, Jaxson and Harper Tadlock all of Moore, Jadyn Potter of Oklahoma City, and twins Alexander and Ella Baglanis of Fallston, Maryland; sister Francile Tadlock DeBerry. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Bennett and Alzada Tadlock, two brothers Bill Tadlock and Herschel “Pinky” Tadlock; two sisters Inez Tadlock Bowman and Joanne Tadlock Lynn.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook St., Norman, OK, with interment following at Denver Cemetery, Norman Ok.

Bearers will be grandsons:  Tim Tadlock, Jerry Tadlock, Jr, Kevin Michael, Brian Potter, Matt Albin and son in law John Papandrea.

Arrangements for J.B. and his family have been placed in the care of the Vice Family at Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman, OK.
