Fertig, Doris, 71, passed away Monday, September 17, 2012 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
She was born
August 18, 1941 in Mt. Vernon, New York to Douglas and Catherine (Holder)
Rogers. She was united in marriage on December 23, 1979 in Oklahoma City,
Oklahoma to James Fertig.
Doris was raised in Mt. Vernon, New York graduating in 1959 from Mt. Vernon High
School. She then moved to Oklahoma where she graduated from Moore-Norman Vo
Tech in 1979 with her LPN degree. She later returned to college, attending Rose
State in Midwest City obtaining her Registered Nurse degree in 1983. Doris was
an Registered Nurse for Griffin Memorial Hospital retiring in 2003 after 12
years of service. Doris loved her dogs and her family and always put their
needs before her own. Her warm smile and loving touch will live on in each one
of their lives forever.
Doris is survived by her husband, James Fertig of Norman; her children;
daughter, Allis Vaughn of Norman, daughter, Amy Gilles and husband Bryan of
Merrill, WI and her son, Roger Madole and wife Mary of Oklahoma City; five
grandchildren, Christopher Vaughn, Marie Morrison, Karsen Madole, Klayton Madole
and Kyndra Gilles; five great grandchildren, Hayden Drew, Jonathan Keller,
Braylon Cortright, Ryder Cortright and one Angel in waiting; numerous nieces and
other family members; and her canine family, Sandy, Teddy, Booger, Peeper, Camy,
Pumkin, Boomer, Howie, Kooter, Sammy and Zoe.
She is preceded in death by her
parents.
The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September
19, 2012 at Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook St., Norman. Graveside
services will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 20, 2012 at the
Denver Cemetery of Norman.
Arrangements for Doris and her family have been placed in the care of the Vice
Family at the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
