Ruby Lee Brents age 84, of Lexington, OK, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at the Sunset Estates Nursing Home in Purcell, OK.

She was born July 13, 1930 in Davis, Oklahoma. She was the 2nd child of four children born to John Newton Smith and Vera Creasie (Jones) Smith. Ruby grew up North of Sulphur, OK near Chigley. She later attended Wayne schools where she graduated with the class of 1950. On August 16, 1952 in Maysville, OK, Ruby married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Brents. That same years they moved to California while Bob pursued a career in the U.S. Navy. Together Ruby and Bob had two sons, Gary David Brents and John Brents. They lived in the Chula Visa, California area until Bob retired in 1969. That same year they moved to Lexington, OK after buying a farm and building a home east of Lexington. Ruby loved the farm and enjoyed gardening with Bob, canning and cooking. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting and quilting. She was a faithful Christian who enjoyed reading her bible, playing the piano and leading the music at Church. She was a former member of Sunray Baptist and the Cornerstone Baptist churches in Purcell. She was currently a member of Corbett Baptist Church, east of Lexington. Ruby was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by: Parents, John and Vera Smith; Husband, Robert “Bob” Brents April 24, 2009; Son, Gary David Brents; Infant brother, Johnny Ray Smith;

She was survived by: 1 Son, John Brents and wife Angela of Burns Flat, OK 1 Grandson, Robert Brents of Lexington, OK 3 Granddaughters, Raven Williams and husband Raymond of Lexington, OK Jessica Cottrill and husband Tim of Burns Flat, OK Chelsey Brents of Altus, OK; 3 Great grandchildren, MaKayla Williams, Austin Williams and John Robert Cottrill; Brother, Frank Smith and wife Mary of Oklahoma City, OK; Sister, Kathy Adams and husband Lyndol of Madill, OK Several nieces, nephews and cousins

Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Corbett Baptist Church, Lexington, OK. Burial will follow at the Corbett Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell, OK. Send online condolences @wilsonlittle.com
