Wilma Dean Lawson, age 81 of Purcell, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013 in Purcell. As known by her family, Dean was born on May 10, 1932 southwest of Purcell. She was the oldest of two children born to Wilburn Francis Clour and Zetta Lee (West) Clour. Dean grew up near Wayne and graduated from Wayne High School with the class of 1950. Three years later on April 11, 1953 she married James G. Duggins and to this union three children were born, two sons and one daughter. Dean and her family lived in Seminole until 1969 when at that time they moved back to the Purcell area. Dean worked as a homemaker and as an insurance agent most of her life. For 14 years she worked for Clifton Insurance Agency in Purcell and 12 years for Joe Ray and Insurance Unlimited in Lexington from where she retired. Dean later met Marshall Lawson and they were married on November 12, 1993 in Mena, Arkansas and made their home in Purcell. Dean was a faithful member of the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church in Purcell. Throughout her life she enjoyed playing dominoes, embroidery, making pot holders and watching “Wheel of Fortune”, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by: Parents: Wilburn and Zetta Clour, Husband: Marshall Lawson, Granddaughter: Rhonda Lee Pace, Sister-in-law- Towanda Mae Clour Stepson: Dow Lawson, Stepson-in-law: Floyd Laney, She is survived by: Three children: Jim Duggins and wife Kathy of Lexington, Mike Duggins and wife Kim of Oklahoma City, Vickie Baker and husband Doug of Corinth, TX, One brother: Deral Clour and wife Oteka of Noble, Four grandchildren: Ami Duggins, Grayson Baker, Delaney Baker, and Jeremy Walker Five great grandchildren: Hayden Pace, Cheyanne Pace, Dahnevyn Pace, Dykotah Foster and Kayli Bixler Three step children: Linda Laney of Norman, Cynthia Warren and husband Rick of Norman, Nora King and husband Mark of Norman, 12 step grandchildren, 28 step great- grandchildren and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Saturday, August 24, 2013 at the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church in Purcell. Interment will be at Chappel Hill Cemetery 10 mi. east of Lexington.
