Charles Delbert Brown age 75, of Lexington, passed away unexpectedly late Saturday evening January 20, 2018 at Purcell Municipal Hospital.
Charles was born December 8, 1942, in Wanette, Oklahoma. He was the 2nd of eight children born to Delbert Brown and Ida Lee (Peltier) Brown. Charles grew up in rural Cleveland County, east of Lexington. He first attended a small country school and later attended Lexington High School. On August 31, 1961, Charles answered the call to serve his country and joined the United States Navy. He served his country proudly during the Vietnam War. Charles later married, Judy Kay Miller and together they raised 3 sons, Ronnie, Jimmy and Larry. He worked as an electrician for Lucent Technology, retiring in 2008. When not working, Charles liked tinkering on computers. He was an OU Sooners football fan, he enjoyed hunting, and he never missed an opportunity to go horse racing. He was a good husband, father and grandfather. He was a wonderful brother, uncle and a true friend. He will be dearly missed!
He was preceded in death by: His parents, Delbert and Ida Brown and a Granddaughter, Taylor Ann Brown.
Charles is survived by: His wife, Judy Brown of the home; Sons, Ronnie Brown of Lexington, Jimmy Brown and wife Becky of Paoli and Larry Brown and wife Aimee of Goldsby; 2 brothers, Billy Brown and wife Barbara of Lexington and Donnie Brown and wife Marsha of McLoud; 5 sisters, Bernice Murray of Lexington, Wanda Robinett of Little Axe, Jean Fender of Ada, Linda Parker and husband Glen of Lexington and Tina McMillan and husband Phillip of Lexington; 8 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
Graveside funeral services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018 at
Chappel Hill Cemetery, Lexington, OK. Arrangements are by Wilson-Little
Funeral Home in Purcell.
