The "last picnic" for Don Loman, Sr. fondly known as "Papa Don" will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at 3:00 p.m. at Choctaw Nation Event Center in Grant, OK with Pastor Mike Mussett officiating and burial following in the Swink Cemetery. Don passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015 in Hugo, OK, at the age of 84.
Don Loman, Sr. was born June 19, 1930, in Grant, Oklahoma, to Willie T. and Blanche Lamode (Davidson) Loman. He had lived in this area most of his life, graduating from Grant High School before his military service. Don served his country in the United States Army and Air Force for a combined number of 13 years, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. He married his "sweetheart" Bobbie Kay Caldwell on August 1, 1959, at Bro. Bill Golden’s home in Shoals, OK, and they have thoroughly enjoyed their 57 years of marriage together. Don has done many things in this life, and is most known recently for his dedicated work as an Ambassador for the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, posted at the Casino in Grant, OK. His warm, friendly smile and authentic personality has endeared him to anyone who had the privilege of being near him. Don was known most for his hugging and kissing, didn’t matter who you were or where you were from. He will be remembered as the most hugged, loved man in this world. Don was a member of the Comanche Gourd Clan who enjoyed Gourd dancing, and going to “picnics”/Pow Wow's. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Messer, OK. Don was preceded in death by parents; brother, Edgar P. Loman; sister, Opal (Loman) Grimes.
Don is survived by his wife, Bobbie of the home; son, Don Loman, Jr. of Grant, OK; daughter, Lorie Keel of Grant, OK; grandchildren, Jessica Anne Johnson, Christopher Johnson, Shelby Johnson, Cody Loman, Tanner Loman, Colton Loman, Casey Loman, James Stout, and John Stout; great-grandchildren, Kinsley Johnson, Allison Johnson, and Donovan Bryce Loman; nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday, March 13, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home in Hugo, OK.
