Graveside services for Mrs. Leon Dale "Lynndale" Beavers will be held on Tuesday August, 18 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Sugar Creek Cemetery with Brother Gary Dennis officiating.
Mrs. Beavers passed away on August 13, 2009 exactly 84 years from her birth on August 13, 1925. She was the first child born to Lenard O. Cole and Hettie Mae (Fails) Cole at their home in Soper, Oklahoma. The eldest of one sister and three brothers, Mrs. Beavers grew up in Soper and graduated high school.
On September 4, 1943 she married her sweetheart Marion Jasper "Jack" Beavers when he was on leave from the US Army. On January 4, 1945 Mr. Beavers left by troop ship transport for the Pacific Theater of War. He returned home in January 1946 – and in June 1947, their first son, Jack, was born. Mr. Beavers moved the family to a farm near Lubbock, Texas where in June 1949 their second son, Robert, was born. The family lived a farming life until 1958 when they bought a home in Post, Texas and Mr. and Mrs. Beavers became employees of Burlington Textiles. The family remained in Post until the summer of 1962 when Burlington transferred them to a new factory in Memphis, Texas. Mr. Beavers was the lead maintenance technician at the factory and Mrs. Beavers was the office manager. The boys finished high school in Memphis and left home to continue their studies and eventually started their own families. Mr. and Mrs. Beavers remained in Memphis until 1978 when they retired from Burlington and moved back to Soper. The Memphis community still remembers the Beaver’s home on North 18th street and the beautiful orchard and garden. In retirement at Soper, they raised cattle and gardened – and at one time owned the Soper Grocery.
Mrs. Beavers was preceded in death by her husband M. J. "Jack" Beavers in 2007, both parents, her sister Bobbie Daphine Snuggs and two brothers, Billy L. Cole and Ted R. Cole.
