Funeral services for Darla Shawhart will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Chapel with Stephanie Gordon sharing family memories and comments. Burial will follow at Springs Chapel Cemetery in Hugo, Oklahoma. Darla passed away Friday, December 18, 2015, in Hugo, OK, at the age of 65.

Darla Jean Shawhart was born September 17, 1950, in Wynnewood, OK, the daughter of Garland James Knight and Mary Myrtle Louise (Green) Knight. She lived with her parents in Wynnewood and Duncan before moving to Hugo when she was in the 8th grade. Darla lived in Hugo the remainder of her life and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Darla worked with her parents at the Donut Chef all through her years in school. She married Timmy Shawhart on December 2, 1972 in Hugo, OK. Together with Timmy, Darla was the co-owner of Big Valley Sand & Gravel that they began in 1978 and also later owned the family Donut Chef businesses in Hugo. Darla was active in the Girls Scouts for many years, serving as Neighborhood Cookie Chair and earning the Girl Scouts Highest Adult Honor, the Thanks Badge. She touched a lot of lives as she served through Scouts in our community.

Darla is survived by her husband Timmy Shawhart of the home; one daughter, Tiffany White and her husband Danny of Paris, TX; one grandson, Cade Shawhart; brothers and sisters include Glenn and Kathy Shawhart, and Pam and Sam Shawhart; nieces and nephews, Sammy Shawhart, Roy Shawhart, Kenneth Shawhart, Heather Doane, Madison Doane, Kelsey Randall, and Katlyn Shawhart; great- nieces and great-nephews, Preston Shawhart, Dara Shawhart, Blake Shawhart, Breanna Self, Jackson, Self, Jazlyn Randall, Trinity Randall, Kymberlyn Shawhart, and Lyrica Shawhart; numerous other relatives as well as a host of friends and Girls Scout family and friends.

Visitation will be held Monday, December 21, 2015 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends are invited to sign the guest book or send private condolences to the family at www.praterlampton.com.
