Funeral services for Jessie Sue Aulgur will be held on Friday, October 7, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Milton Murphy officiating, and burial following in the Springs Chapel Cemetery in Hugo, OK.
Jessie passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2011, in Paris, Texas, at the age of 77. Jessie Sue Aulgur was born November 14, 1933 in Paris, Texas, the daughter of Wade and Louise Taylor. She married Vernon Aulgur in DeQueen, Arkansas on February 1, 1952. They moved to Hugo from Paris, Texas about fifty years ago. Jessie worked for twenty-two years at Wells Lamont Glove Factory, and three years at Campbell Soup. She and her husband Vernon started Ace Hardware in Hugo in 1973, then purchased Griffin Hardware in 1982 and ran the business together until his death, then selling in 2001. Jessie volunteered about town including the Grant Nutrition Center. She was a “one person”¯ meals on wheels, delivering cooked fare to many local friends. She just loved to be on the go, attending all the local activities, and enjoyed cooking and canning for her family.
Jessie was preceded in death by her parents, Wade and Louise Taylor; her husband, Vernon Aulgur in 1999; and one brother, A.V. Taylor.
Jessie is survived by one son, Jim Aulgur and wife Kaye of Stillwater, OK; one daughter, Verna Sue Butler and husband Rick of Hugo, OK; grandchildren include Ashley Norris of Hugo, OK, Aaron Aulgur and wife Amy of Oklahoma City, OK, Amanda Aulgur of Stillwater, OK; one brother, J.D. Taylor and wife Jan of Midland, TX; one sister, Carolyn Riddle and husband J.C. of Midland, TX; aunt, Dollie Adkins of Paris, TX; brother-in-laws, Joe McHam and wife Joan of Houston, TX, Bill Person and wife Debbie of Clarksville, TX; sisters-in-law Donna Aulgur and Mary Aulgur Amaral both of California; special friend and companion, Sheriff Garrett of Hugo, OK; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, October 6, 2011 from 6:00-7:00pm at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel.
