Funeral services for Myrtis Fay Young will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home with Pastor David Goff officiating with burial following in the Spencerville Cemetery. Fay passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2015, in Paris, TX at the age of 84.

Fay Young was born on March 18, 1931, in Spencerville, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Joseph Lewis “Shinny” Earthman and Georgia (Clark) Earthman. She lived in this area most of her life. She married Fred Earl Young on June 4, 1949, in DeQueen, Arkansas. They were married for 62 years and had three children. Early on, she chopped and picked cotton in Plainview, TX, better than most men. Fay worked at the Wells Lamont Glove Factory, as well as the Good Luck Glove Factory in Hugo for many years. She then worked at Tyson Chicken until retirement.

Even after retirement, Fay never truly stopped working, especially in the fall with so many leaves to rake and so little time. After retirement, she cleaned every headstone at Spencerville, Cemetery and some at Grant as a volunteer care taker. Fay was a devoted and loving wife and mother.

She was very proud of her family and was excited to become “Mamaw” to her granddaughters and great-grandchildren. Fay loved holidays and family get-togethers; any chance to spend time with her family was important to her. Fay also loved her “son” Bo, her Boston terrier, and, of course, Tom the cat. Fay lit up a room with her smile and laughter.

Fay was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Lewis “Shinny” Earthman and Georgia Earthman; her husband, Fred Earl Young; two sisters, Thelma Brents & Jackie Ingram; and two brothers, J.T. Earthman and her twin, Ray Earthman.

Fay is survived by her three children, Ray Dean Young and wife, Cheryl, of Hugo, OK, Shirley Fay Cody and husband, Clay, of Hugo, OK, and David Earl Young and wife, Pat, of Sawyer, OK; four granddaughters, Christine White and husband, Kyle of Hugo, OK, Wendy Knight and husband, Scott, of Hugo, OK, Torie Englehardt and husband, Chad, of Fletcher, OK, and Bridget Keeling and husband, Eugene, of Sawyer, OK; five great-granddaughters, Haley White, Ryen Knight, Emery, Ambry, and Mazie Grace Englehardt; two great-grandsons, Cody and Casen Knight; sister, Marilyn Gooding of Soper, OK; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends Friday, November 20, 2015, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Chapel in Hugo, OK.
