Walter Melvin Roebuck

Melvin Roebuck was born October 31, 1924 in Lakeview, Texas to Oscar and Inez (Culbertson) Roebuck, and he departed this life on September 2, 2013.

He married Ina Fay Claborn on November 15, 1944 in Durant, Oklahoma. They were married for 49 years and resided in Soper, Oklahoma.

Melvin was preceded in death by Fay; as well as his parents: Oscar and Inez Roebuck; three brothers: Roy, Elvis, and Fred Roebuck; daughter: Alice Fay (Roebuck) Gentry; and grandson: Bill Moore and wife Jade.

Melvin resided in Soper and retired from the Oklahoma State Highway Department as a Foreman after 20 years of service. He also worked for several years at George Bonds Service Station and Brindley's Furniture Store in Hugo, Oklahoma. Melvin enjoyed gardening, visiting with friends at the Soper coffee shop, and spending time and attending Soper First Baptist Church with his good friend, Mary Wynn.

Survivors include a daughter: Shirley Moore and husband Eddie of Soper, Oklahoma; four grandsons: Anthony Moore of Irving, Texas, Chad Moore of Hugo, Oklahoma, Eric Gentry and wife Julie of Princeton, Texas and Chris Gentry and wife Sylvia of Ponca City, Oklahoma; and eight great-grandchildren: Candrick, Christian, Caleb, Corey, Stephanie, Emilee, Hannah and Madison.

Funeral services for Melvin Roebuck will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 6, 2013, in the First Baptist Church in Soper, OK and burial following in the Soper Cemetery. Melvin passed from this life on Monday, September 2, 2013, in Soper, OK. j
