A celebration of Dorothy Irene Easley’s life will be held Saturday, April 11, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sawyer Baptist Church in Sawyer, OK with Rev. Robert O’Neill officiating and burial following in the Shoat Springs Cemetery.
Dorothy Irene Easley, 76, of Hugo, OK went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 8, 2009 in Houston, TX. She was born on March 3, 1933 in Cedar Bluff, AL to Lathan R. and Dovie Christine (Wallace) Cromer. She attended school in Clovis, NM and took three years of classes at Idabel Junior College. She married Van A. Easley on March 20, 1972 in Las Cruces, NM. She was a homemaker and had lived in this area since 1974. Dorothy was a member of the Sawyer Baptist Church in Sawyer, OK where she had taught Sunday School. She was also a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 8316 of Hugo, OK. She loved reading, playing bingo, and Sunday Daily Oklahoman crossword puzzles. She especially loved spending time with her family and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Van A. Easley; her parents; one son: Daniel Baldwin; one grandson: Brian Baldwin; two brothers: Walt & RD Cromer; one sister: Joyce Mills and one brother-in-law: W.H. Burns.
Dorothy is survived by four sons: Billy Joe Baldwin of Davenport, OK, David Baldwin and wife, Sherrie of Friona, TX, Robert Baldwin and wife, Sherry of Wellston, OK and Joseph Baldwin of Wellston, OK; three daughters: Beverly Johnson and husband, Larry of Frogville, OK, Cathy Reese of Clovis, NM and Judy Powell and husband, Louis Furr of Mobile, AL; two brothers in- law: Bob Mills of Denver, CO and James Easley and wife, Winnie of Clovis, NM; two sisters: Frankie Burns of Tempe, AZ, Opal LeFever and husband, Leland of Green Cone Springs, FL; two sisters-in law: Aliene Cromer of Amarillo, TX and Girtie Easley of Roseburg OR; nineteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 10, 2009 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home.
