Funeral services for Bessie Meinke will be held on Friday, January 21, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Assembly of God Church in Boswell, OK with Rev. Herb Wharton officiating and burial following in the Restland Cemetery in Boswell, OK.
Bessie passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2011 in Durant, OK, at the age of 92. Bessie Meinke was born June 5, 1918 in Boswell, OK, to George and Maude(Burkett) Latham. A special father in her life was Reuben Noah Davidson. She was a lifetime resident of Boswell and a member of the Assembly of God Congregation.
Bessie married Hermon Roy Edward Meinke on January 7, 1940 in Boswell, OK. She was a dedicated housewife and mother, helping Hermon with the farm duties and working the cows. Bessie was an avid gardener who liked her gardens to always be beautifully manicured. She loved to plant seed and reap the harvest of vegetables and fruits with the idea of preserving everything by canning, drying, or freezing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hermon E. Meinke in 1994; six brothers, George Robert Latham, Lee Roy Latham, Willie Howard Latham, Elmer Roscoe Davidson, James Henry Davidson, infant-Bobby Davidson; one sister Bonnie Murriel Davidson Offutt.
Bessie is survived by one daughter, Loretta Belvin and husband Dante of Boswell, OK; one granddaughter, Katosha Nakai and husband Errol of Phoenix, AZ; two great-granddaughters, Ellisia, age six, and Gabriella, age four; two sisters, Neula Faye Sewell and husband Glyn of Broken Arrow, OK, Lela Maye Vaughn of Levelland, TX; Dessie Latham of Hugo, OK, cousin and valued friend since childhood; brother-in-law, Haskell Offutt of Drumright, OK; sister-in-law, Elba Jean Latham of Ada, OK; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
