Ruth (Jordan) Manous

Funeral services for Ruth Manous will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Valliant Assembly of God Church in Valliant, Oklahoma with Rev. Scott Stuart officiating and burial following in Restland Cemetery in Boswell, Oklahoma.

Ruth Manous passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2010 in Paris, TX at the age of 85. Ruth was born September 5, 1924 in Atoka County, OK the daughter of Henry and Thada May (Odell) Jordan. She married Floyd Manous, making their home in Boswell, OK. She was a homemaker who devoted her life to her family. She was a Master Quilt Maker, having around 400 quilts to her name. She thoroughly enjoyed any kind of animal and watched the Animal Planet shows regularly. Ruth was known for her “green thumb”¯, having grown some giant crops that surpassed her two-story home in height.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Floyd Manous in 1974; one daughter: Ruth Ellen Seachrist; four sisters: Edna Jones, Pearl Tate, Thelma Lunsford, Marie Merriman; five brothers: Leon Jordan, Turner (T.V.) Jordan, Mearl Jordan, Marshall Jordan, and Manuel Jordan.

Ruth is survived by three sons: Henry Manous of Yukon, OK, Leon Manous of Newscastle, OK and Ronnie Manous of Oklahoma City, OK; three daughters: Ruby Kelley of Valliant, OK, Virginia (Manous) Doyle of Denison, TX and Sherrie (Manous) Gibbs of Boswell, OK; one sister: Hazel Spradley of Big Sandy, TX; two sisters-in-law: Anne Jordan of rush Springs, OK and Emma Jordan of Boswell, OK; nineteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great- grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday, February 12, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Chapel.
