Funeral services for James Nance Yarmuk will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel in Hugo, OK with Pastor Kyle Cummings officiating; burial will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo, OK. James passed away April 2, 2017, at Baptist Village in Hugo, OK at the age of 84.

James Nance Yarmuk was born June 22, 1932 in Lawton, OK to Nathan and LaVeta Agnus (Nance) Yarmuk.

James and Vallene (Baxter) Yarmuk were united in marriage May 29, 1958 in Lawton and spent 54 years together until her passing in 2012. Jim and Vallene acted as purchasing agents for Carson and Barnes Circus. After retiring from their business they moved to Hugo and enjoyed traveling along with the circus. James had lived in Choctaw County for 10 years after moving from Lawton and was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Hugo. He enjoyed skeet shooting, playing cards and dominoes with his family, attending church at Oak Grove Baptist, and old cars; growing up, James always told people that he had the fastest car in Lawton. While in Lawton, James and Vallene owned Lawton Iron and Metal.

James was preceded in death by his wife, Vallene Yarmuk; parents, Nathan and LaVeta Yarmuk; three sisters, Robin Schmitt, Nathalle Bergman, and JoAnn Power; brother, Louis Yarmuk; and step-son, Thomas Rodney Johnson.

James is survived by his step-son, Geary Byrd and wife, Barbara, of Hugo, four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other friends.

Family will receive friends Friday, April 7, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel in Hugo, OK.
