Funeral services for Oleta Gwendolyn Taylor will be held on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 2:00 pm at First Assembly of God Church in Hugo, OK with Rev. Jim Dearman, Rev. Keithen Brown, and Rev. Randy Mayfield officiating and burial following at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo, OK. Oleta passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2016 in Hugo, OK at the age of 81.
Oleta Gwendolyn Taylor was born December 17, 1934 in Blackjack, OK to Raymond A. and Oma (Taylor) McKinzie. She graduated from Central Union High School in El Centro, CA in 1953. Oleta married Grady Taylor on April 6, 1957 in El Centro, CA. She had lived in this area since 1973 and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Hugo. She had worked as a cook for the Hugo High School for several years, and she also worked as a salesperson for Cornerstone Book Store and Murray’s Furniture, as a Tupperware Dealer and a cook and waitress at the 4 Brothers Café. Oleta was a Women’s Ministries Leader and Sunday School Teacher in her church; she volunteered at the Hugo Food Pantry and enjoyed cooking. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Grady Taylor and brother, Ray McKinzie, Jr.
Oleta is survived by her daughters, Dama McLemore and husband, Randy, of Hugo, OK, and Nancy Dearman and husband, Jim, of Willard, MO; sister, Loweta Chewning of San Diego, CA; three grandchildren, Taylor Dearman, Thad Dearman, and Emily McLemore.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel.
