Graveside services for Marian Claire Simmons will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. in the Darrough Pavilion at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo, OK, Pastor Doug McClure officiating. Marian passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2013, in Hugo, OK at the age of 68.

Marian was born November 22, 1944, in Okmulgee, Ok, the daughter of Orland Lewis Simmons and Margaret Frances (Harryman) Simmons. Marian Graduated from Hugo High School in 1963. Marian and her family moved to Idabel, Oklahoma in 1969 where she owned and operated her own dress shop before becoming a long time employee at the McCurtain County Courthouse, retiring from the District Attorney's office in 2006. She moved to Hugo in 2007 to be near family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hugo, OK. Marian loved animals, always seeking out shelters for lost pets in the neighborhoods.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Larry Simmons.

Marian is survived by two sons, Randy Rogers and wife Kim of Choctaw, OK, Greg Rogers of Dallas, TX; three granddaughters, Makenna Rogers of Norman, OK, Torie Rogers of Kiowa, OK, Haley Rogers of Michigan; three grandsons, Garreth Rogers of Cedar Hill, TX, Jacob Evans and Mason Evans both of Wilburton, OK; two brothers, Gary Simmons and wife Fay of Tulsa, OK, Barry Simmons and wife Karen of Sapulpa, OK; one sister, Jane Lampton and husband Mike of Hugo, OK; as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 19, 2013, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Chapel.

The family requests that donations be made in Marian’s memory to the www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org or the www.humanesociety.org.

Family and friends are also invited to sign the guest book or send private condolences to the family at www.praterlampton.com.
