Funeral services for Curry Scott will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Hugo with Shawn Scott and Rev. Tommy Moser officiating and burial following in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo, Oklahoma.
Curry Scott died Wednesday, March 3, 2010 in Soper, OK at the age of 68. Curry Scott was born June 18, 1941 in Antlers, OK the son of Lurt and Syble (Leddy) Scott. Curry attended school at Rattan, OK where he is still known for his athletic ability. He loved playing basketball and shared many memories with his children and grandchildren of his high school years. He married his high school sweetheart, Tommie Rosenthal on October 7, 1961 in antlers, OK and they shared 48 years together. Curry worked for Choctaw Electric for seventeen years, He was a lineman and construction foreman and later served as a board member. He also served on the Board of Education at Soper Schools. He and Tommie along with their children owned and operated "Scotts Tee Pee" in Soper, OK. The "Tee Pee" was known for its home grown all beef hamburgers. Many Soper students spent a many of hours hanging around there. Among Curry's favorite things in life was planting and raising a garden. He was a rancher and truly enjoyed his cattle and ranch life. He wanted so much to be able to ride a horse again across his place. Curry spent many years as a lay minister. Curry was a member and Deacon of the Soper First Baptist Church. He supply preached in many churches in and around this area. His desire was for everyone to know that Jesus Christ was his Lord and Savior. Perhaps his highest calling was being a dad and Pa. He gave his life giving to his family and others. He believed in helping people and meeting the needs of others.
Curry was preceded in death by his parents: Lurt and Syble Scott, and special friends: Mr. and Mrs. Roy Cotulla.
Curry is survived by his wife: Tommie Scott of the home; one son: Shawn Scott and wife Jeanne of Soper, OK; two daughters: Kim Adams and husband Chad, Misty Grammar and husband W.F.; one brother: Johnny Scott and wife Sandy; grandchildren: Parker Harless and wife Casey of Soper, OK, Payton Harless and wife Jessica of Hugo, Presley, Colton, Chance, Paige, and Alexis; three great-grandchild: Morgan, Kirsten, and Aubrey; and a close family friend: Jose Rubio.
The family will receive friends Friday, March 5, 2010 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Chapel.
