Martha Ellen Emert Russell, 84, passed Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, following a short illness. Service: 10 a.m. Friday at Crowley First Baptist Church. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery in Hugo, Okla 4:00 PM Friday November 22, 2013. Martha was born in Idabel, Okla., on Jan. 15, 1929, to Ira Leon and Nellie Dixie Hardy. She married Cecil G. Emert on Dec. 27, 1947, in DeQueen, Ark., and became a stepmother at that time to Truell and Roger Emert. To this union, son Paul W. Emert was born in 1949. Married for almost 47 years, she became a widow in 1994. She then married William M. Russell on Oct. 4, 1997, in Ardmore, Okla. He preceded her in death in 2012. Martha spent her working career as a factory worker at Wells Lamont glove factory in Hugo, Okla., and as a warehouse worker at Macs Wholesale in Ardmore, Okla. She retired in 1980 upon the retirement of her husband. Martha was a faithful follower of her Lord and Savior and strived to exemplify her Christain faith daily. She spent over 25 years teaching 4-year-olds in Sunday school. Martha had resided at Heritage Place Retirement Center in Burleson for over three years, having moved from Ardmore in 2010 to be near her son. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend who will be sorely missed but whose influence will live on in the lives of those who knew and loved her. Special thanks to the staff at Hospice House at Huguley and the rest of the staff of Community Hospice of Texas for the loving care they provided her and to her family during this difficult time.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; two stepsons; five sisters; and two brothers.

Survivors: Her son, Paul Emert and his wife, Helen, of Burleson; grandchildren, Michelle Lopez and her husband, Jason, of Spring, Marwin Emert and his wife, Tina, of Broussard, La., and Andrea Chaput and her husband, Derek, of Longwood, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Hunter and Garrett Lopez, Tyler Emert and Mason and Ryan Chaput; special niece, Juanita White; special nephew, Charles Capps; and other nieces, nephews and friends.
