Funeral services for Hazel Pauline Reese will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Clayton Avenue Baptist with Pastor Gene Witt officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the church before the service. Burial will follow after the service in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Hazel went to be with our Lord on Friday, August 10, 2012, in Raleigh, North Carolina, at the age of 98. Hazel Pauline Reese was born April 27, 1914, in Valliant, Oklahoma, the daughter of Ralph and Della Belle (Roberts) Hendley. She lived in this area all her life and was a member of Clayton Avenue Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry Reese; one son, Charles Reese; four brothers, William Hendley, Arnold Hendley, Carl Hendley and Jack Hendley; two sisters, Pearl Wright and Helen Corley. Hazel spent her entire life in the Hugo area and retired from the Hugo hospital in 1975 and was an active member of the Clayton Avenue Baptist Church for over 60 years. She enjoyed traveling with her children, loved to go fishing, and working in her yard. Hazel was proud that she needed a new lawn mower to use after her 90th birthday.

Hazel is survived by two daughters, Shirley Gilliam and husband Wendell of Raleigh, NC and Mary Lou Jackson of Brenham, TX; one sister, Jessie Hall of Broken Bow, OK; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

The family expresses a very heartfelt appreciation to the staff of The Covington who gave outstanding care and love in her battle with Alzheimers.

The family requests that donations may be made to the Clayton Avenue Baptist Church.
