Funeral services for Ruth J. Payne will be held on Friday, June 1, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel in Hugo, OK with burial following in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo, OK with Rev. Bill Stone officiating. Ruth passed away Monday, May 30, 2012, in Hugo, Oklahoma, at the age of 92.
Ruth J. Payne was born on January 17, 1920, in Soper, OK, the daughter of John Wilson and Pearlie Mae Milam. She married Alvis Wilson Payne on February 12, 1937 in Hugo, OK. She had lived in this area most of her life and was a member of the Southside Baptist Church. Ruth loved gardening, cooking, reading, and caring for all of her family.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvis Wilson Payne; son, Billy Max Payne.
Ruth is survived by two sons, Michael Alvis Payne of Sawyer, OK and Roger Patrick Payne of Valliant, OK; two daughters, Sharon Gail Brown of Stillwater, OK and Sandra Faye Winfrey of McKinney, TX; grandchildren, Chad Payne, Clint Payne, Kaleb Payne, Kendal Sence, Toby Payne, Josh Payne, Patrick Payne, Blake Payne, Dana Mallett, Tammi Pitts, and Danny Brown; great-grandchildren, Danny Gaston, Clint Gaston, Abby Payne, Kayla Ostrowski, Sonya Patterson, Kyle Ostrowski, Ashley Pitts, Kaden Payne, Kaleigh Payne, Braden Payne, Noah Payne, Emma Payne Sophia Manos, George Manos, Anna Kate Manos, Laureen Wieding, Kate Wieding; and special friends, Ron and Vi Springs of Hugo, OK.
The family will receive friends Thursday, May 31, 2012, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Chapel in Hugo, OK.
