Otie (Eddleman) Parker

Funeral services for Otie Parker will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Tolbert Dill and Rev. Milton Murphy officiating and burial following in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Otie passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at the age of 98. Otie Parker was born June 1, 1913, in Calera, OK to O.T. and Martha Frances (Mead) Eddleman. She had lived in the Hugo area since she was 4 years old after moving with her family from Calera, OK. Otie married her husband, Simon Parker of 51 years on October 26, 1940, in Hugo, OK. After attending Southeastern State College, now SOSU, she moved back to Hugo to work for the Soil Conservation Office, and later at the Security First National Bank. She was a homemaker and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hugo for 92 years. Otie loved first and foremost serving the Lord in her church, where she sang in the choir for over 50 years. She was a 50 plus year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, PEO, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Order of the Eastern Star. She loved music of all kinds, needlework, and researching genealogy. She loved and was devoted to her family.

Otie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Simon Parker in 1991; two brothers, Dale Eddleman and wife Ruth and Lex Eddleman and wife, June; one sister, Oraneva Merkle and husband, Ernie; one sister-in-law, Edna Eddleman; one brother-in-law, Buff Parker and wife Margaret.

Otie is survived by one son, Simon Parker Jr. of Hugo, OK; one daughter, Martha Childs and husband, Larry, of the Lake Texoma Area; two grandchildren, Brian Childs of Boston, MA and wife, Stephanie, and Brandon Childs of Houston, TX; one great-grandchild, Henry Thomas Childs of Boston, MA; one brother, Jack Eddleman of Hugo, OK; Nieces, Ann Lynn Bohanon of Oklahoma City, OK, Martha Wettstain and husband, Wally, of Hugo, OK, Rickee Eddleman of Edmond, OK and Deb Atchley and husband Gary of Edmond, OK; nephews, Tom Parker and wife Andrea of Hugo, OK, Mike Parker and wife Janice of Round Rock, TX, Buffie Parker and wife Charlene of Lilburn, GA and Bill Parker and wife, Barbara of Ardmore, OK; and numerous other family and friends.

The family will welcome people to visit at the church after the service and burial.
