Helen Mayo, 82, of Eufaula, formerly of Hugo, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Helen was born on January 4, 1932 in Ft. Towson, Oklahoma to Soloman Virgil and Sophia Lena (Williams) Nation. She attended Ft. Towson Schools. On September 16, 1950, Helen married Harry Leonard Mayo in DeQueen, Arkansas. Helen traveled with her husband on highline service throughout Oklahoma, Texas and Arkansas. She was a seamstress at a glove factory in Hugo during the 60's. She also kept books for her husband when he had his small engine repair shop. Helen was a Yellow Dog Democrat. She loved to go to Red Lobster, hit Jack Pots at the casinos and travel. She was a very caring woman who made donations to the less fortunate and was a strong Christian.

Survivors include: her daughter Jacqueline Haskett and husband, Jim, of Eufaula, OK; grandchildren: Jayson Haskett and wife Shana; Janya McGuire; and great grandchildren: Cierra and Brailee McGuire and Wyatt Haskett.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of 61 years, Harry. Siblings: Sarah McMillian, Lula Henneger, William Nation, Leonard Nation, Velma McMillian, Beatrice West, Estelle Lyon, Iva Ashton, Lendon Keith Nation, Lavell Smith and Frank Nation.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 14, 2014, in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel in Hugo, OK. Burial will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Services were under the direction of Hunn, Black & Merritt Funeral Home & Crematory of Eufaula. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.hbmfuneralhome.com.
