Funeral services for Jackie D. Davis will be held on Monday, October 4, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. in the Wesley United Methodist Church with Pastor Wes Kimball, Pastor Mike Bryant, and Bill Parker officiating with burial following in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Jack passed away Thursday, September 30, 2010, at his home South of Hugo, Oklahoma, at the age of 75. Jack Davis was born April 20, 1935 in Hugo, Oklahoma. His mentors included Simon Parker Sr., James Redwine, Buff Parker, and Dr. Wolfe. It took all of these men and coaches to raise Jack. He graduated from Hugo High School in the class of 1954. Jack played football for Hugo and was the first boy to enroll in Mrs. Vandergriff’s homemaking class. Jack attended one year of college at Texas A&M playing football for Bear Bryant. After high school, Jack joined the Air Force and on weekends he played football for the Sherman-Denison Jets and was recruited by the Dallas Cowboys. Jack spent most of his life serving our Country in the U.S. Air Force. He served from May 1955 to October 1978, retiring as a Master Seargent. His service took him all over the world and he loved to tell about his travels. He moved back to Hugo after his retirement, and loved to watch sports and eat out. Jack always had a good sense of humor, sharing jokes with people he met. Jack married Martha Bailey on May 29, 2010 in DeQueen, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by parents; and one sister, Bobbie Thompson.

Jack is survived by his wife: Martha Davis of the home; one son, Reggie Davis and wife Rebecca of San Carlos, CA; one daughter, Kathy Caldwell of Kansas City, MO; and four grandchildren, Henry Davis, Oliver Davis, Baxter Davis, and Candas Caldwell; his extended family, Daryl, Doug, and Darren Bailey and their families.

The family will receive friends Monday, October 4, 2010, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. in the Wesley United Methodist Church.
