Funeral services for Chester Cearley will be held on Monday, October 29, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the Clayton Avenue Baptist Church in Hugo, OK, with Pastor Britt Lesley officiating and burial following in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo, OK.
Chester went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, October 24, 2012, in Paris, TX at the age of 84. Chester R. Cearley was born September 15, 1928 in Hugo, OK the son of Chester R. and Effie (Tinsley) Cearley Sr. He married Louise Burton on June 26, 1953 in Hugo, OK. Chester lived in the area all of his life and was an active member of the Clayton Avenue Baptist Church. Chester served the Lord by teaching the fifth, sixth and seventh grades, and singing specials during church. Chester at the age of sixteen began his apprenticeship at the railroad, where he worked as a machinist until he joined the Army. He served his country in the United States Army where he attended Army Intelligence Analysis School and fought in the Korean War. He later transferred to the Army Reserves. Chester owned and operated Cearley Machine Shop till he retired in 2004. He was a member of the Shriners, Elks and the Masons. He was a talented deer hunter and he loved to make people laugh with his jokes and stories.
Chester is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Louise Cearley in 2003 and son Chuck Cearley in 2011.
Chester is survived by one daughter, Renee Baer and husband Kenneth of Irving, TX; niece, Rhonda Snodgrass and husband Kurt of Norman, OK; brother Robert Cearley of Longview, TX; sister Pat Smitty of Anna, TX; grandchildren, Kendra Thomason and Steven Baer both of Grand Prairie, TX, Kallen Snodgrass and Kade Snodgrass both of Norman, OK; additional relative, Richard Burton of Grey Bull, WY; and special friend, Irma Woodruff of Pairs, TX.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 28, 2012, from 3:00-4:00 p.m. in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel in Hugo, OK.
