Funeral services for Franklin Roosevelt Offutt will be held on Monday, October 20, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the Prater Lampton Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel in Hugo, OK with Robert Ballard officiating and burial following at 2:00 PM at Tuggle Springs Cemetery, north of Clarksville, TX. Franklin passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2014 in Boswell, OK at the age of 81.
Franklin R. Offutt was born in Blossom, TX to D.M. and Bessie Alice (McMillan) Offutt. Franklin lived in the Boswell area for 69 years, and he loved his home place. He served time in the U.S. Army during the draft, and he graduated Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, OK in the 1950’s. He taught school for 7 years in Texas and Oklahoma, and he loved his time with the elementary age. After that, he lived at home on the farm. Franklin enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding horses in his youth, and he was an avid reader, with an incredible memory allowing him to remember things for years.
He was preceded in death by parents; sisters, Juanita Pierce and Billie Jack Offutt; brothers, Haskell Offutt, Wesley Offutt, and a baby brother.
Franklin is survived by his sisters, Helen Rawls of Princeton, TX, and Mary Jo Brumley of Boswell, OK; special caregiver niece, Kim Rogers and husband, Jimmy, of Boswell, OK; and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-5:00 PM on Sunday, October 19, 2014 in the Prater Lampton Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel in Hugo, OK.
