Gerald Jones, "Brother, Husband, Dad, Papa, and Uncle", 71, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2014, at the family home in Sawyer Oklahoma, after his courageous battle with Cancer.
Gerald was born in Darwin, OK, August 3, 1942, to Ruben and Lottie Gertrude White Jones. Gerald grew up in Boswell, OK. He and his wife Juanita opened their family business, Jones Heat and Air, in February 1971, in Hugo, Oklahoma until the business was moved in 1997 to its present day location in Sawyer, Oklahoma. The family business, Jones Heat and Air, will continue under the leadership of his son, Tommy Jones, daughter, Karen Jones Howser, and Co-Owner, Kenny Leddick.
Gerald was married to Juanita Beth Gibbons on June 4, 1960 in Garland, Texas. They would have been married 54 years this June. Gerald was an avid hunter and fisherman enjoying anything outdoors, he was a member of the Hugo Bass Club for many years. Gerald proudly served with Ed Bates, and Leo Golden as an Ordained Deacon of the Grant Baptist Church, since 1974. He also served as a youth leader, and Sunday school teacher.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben & Lottie Jones, his brothers Cecil, Burt, Eric, R.L., and Clifford, his sisters Ruby, Nellie, and Belle.
Gerald is survived by his spouse: Juanita; his daughter: Karen Sue and spouse John Howser; his son: Tommy and spouse Missi Jones, all of Sawyer, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Brandy McKnight, Jarrett Howser, Kimberley Fowler, and J.D. Newsome; great grandchildren: Austin, Taylor, Keeli, Ayden, and Creed; and his loving brother Roy Lee California; along with numerous other loving nieces, nephews, and "adopted" children and grandchildren.
Gerald was honest to a fault, always willing to help anyone in need; He was a mentor to many and loved by all. He was his family’s rock and foundation. He was the one everyone went to with their problems. Family to Gerald was not only "blood".
A combined memorial service for Gerald and his grandson Jarrett Howser will be held Monday, April 7, 2014 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Hugo following a luncheon for the family at 12 p.m. in the fellowship hall.
