Graveside services for John William Hughes will be held on Friday, September 17, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in the Payne Cemetery in Eustace, TX. John passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2010 in Paris, Texas, at the age of 77.

John William Hughes was born November 13, 1932 in Stockard, Texas, to William "Buck" and Edna (Ballard Arzilia) Hughes.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Jo Ann Hughes.

John is survived by his wife, Carol Hughes of the home; one son, Mike Hughes and wife, Toni of Kaufman, TX; daughters, Connie Spurgeon and husband, Randy of China Springs, TX, Wilma Jo Bowman of Alburque, NM and Deborah Smith and husband, Gus of Euless, TX; one brother, Don Hughes and wife, Charlene of Malakof, TX; sisters, Ann Reynolds and husband, Billy of La Rue, TX and Polly Shumate and husband Doyle of Euless, TX; three step-children, Guy & Loretta Hooper both of Hugo,OK, Terri Lane and husband, Leland of Eufaula, OK and Leah Pitts of McAlester, OK; 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday, September 16, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home in Athens, TX.
