Glenda Covington DeSellier, age 58, of Hugo, died Thursday, January 29. She was born September 15, 1950, in Hugo, OK, the daughter of Orville and Eula (Norrid) Covington. Glenda was born and had lived in this area most of her life. She married Joseph DeSellier on June 9, 1979 in New Mexico. She graduated Valedictorian from Grant High School. She was a passionate teacher. She taught on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona and on the Apache Reservation in San Carlos, Arizona and in Farmington, New Mexico. When she moved back to Oklahoma she taught in Moyers for two years and in the Hugo Public School System for 16 years, fourteen of those as the director of the Alternative Education program. She loved her work, her students and her co-workers. She touched many lives and left her imprint on each one. Glenda embodied simplicity, an amazing feat for such an extraordinary woman. Glenda was dedicated to her husband Joseph, and her children Aaryn, Jared, Ryan and Arthur as well as her grandchildren Ethan, Aspyn, Allie and Gracie. She loved to read, she was an avid reader on a variety of subjects. She enjoyed gardening and her house plants. Glenda was preceded in death by her parents and one sister-in-law, Tina Covington. She is survived by her husband: Joseph of the home; sons: Ryan DeSellier of New York, Arthur DeSellier of Norman, OK and Jared DeSellier; one daughter: Aaryn DeSellier of Hugo, OK; brothers: Donald Covington and wife, Kathy of Hugo, OK, Lonnie Covington and wife, Carol Ann of Globe, AZ, Clifford Covington and wife Maxine of Bluff, OK, Carrol Covington and Randa of Hugo, OK; Loyd Covington of Gay, OK. 4-grandchildren: Ethan, Aspyn, Allie, and Gracie and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial celebration of Glenda’s life will be held Monday, February 2, 2009 starting at 7:00 p.m. in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Chapel with a family private service at a later time.
