Alice Bernice (Smith) Wells

Funeral services for Bernice Wells will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ft. Towson Baptist Church with Jack Noble officiating and burial following in Ft. Towson Cemetery.

Bernice passed away Monday, August 10, 2009 at the age of 89. Bernice Wells was born June 30, 1920 in Snead, Oklahoma the daughter of John and Minnie Bell (Puladdy) Smith. She had lived in this area all her life and was a faithful member of the Ft. Towson Baptist Church.

She married Horace Leon Wells on November 12, 1938 in Hugo, Oklahoma. Bernice worked for twenty-five years for Wells-Lamont Glove Factory in Hugo and later for the Glove Factory in Idabel. She enjoyed sewing, crotchet, working in the yard, playing canasta and dominoes. She loved her family and babysitting her nieces and nephews who knew her as "Aunt B".

She was preceded in death by her husband: Horace Leon Wells; one brother: Curtis Harold Smith; three sisters: Ola Mae Smith, Betty Lois Lancaster, and Ruby Aline Bullock.

Bernice is survived by one daughter: Vonne Wells of Grand Prarie, TX; one granddaughter: Michelle Duke of Justin, TX; two great-grandchildren: Cade and Landry; one brother: Charlie Smith of Arkansas; nieces and nephews including: Johnny Lancaster, Ricky Bullock, June Little, Dennis, Marsha, Karen; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Chapel.
