Services for Bette (Betty) Jo Calvert Coyle McCormick will be held at 3:00 Wednesday, September, 24, 2008 at the Methodist Church in Ft. Towson, Oklahoma, with Rev. Oscar Wilkie officiating. Bette was called home to be with the Lord September 20, 2008 her home in Ft. Towson at the age of 84. Bette was born November 24, 1923, the daughter of Winford (Rex) Calvert and Birdie Cameron in Lawton, Oklahoma. At the age of eleven she moved with her parents to Blackwell, Oklahoma where her family owned/operated the Calvert Cadillac/Chevrolet Dealership.
Upon graduation from Blackwell High School, she attended Christian College in Columbia, Missouri, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She also attended Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater.
She worked at Calvert Car Dealership, Diehl's Liquor Store, and for many years at Pollyanna Dress Shop all in Blackwell, Oklahoma.
She married the father of her children, Raymond Coyle in 1943 for 21 years. She later met and married Robert E. (Bob) McCormick in 1973. Together they managed Blackwell Country Club, Idabel Country Club, and owned/operated the B & B Place, Bob & Bette's, the Cedar Shed, and several Hugo apartment complexes. Many friends were touched by her generosity, kindness and cheerful greetings.
Bette was preceded in death by her parents; daughter: Pam in 1957; son: Pete in 1979; husband: Bob in 1995; and daughter Paula in 2003. Survivors include daughters: Penny Coyle and Jon Loar of Ft. Towson, Linda Bell and Ed Baker of Idabel, Dotti and Leland White of Denton, TX; a son: Robert E. (Bob) and Saisri McCormick of Edmond, OK; Eleven grandchildren include: Kimberly Coyle Robinson and Danny of Montgomery, AL, Chris, Cameron, and Chance Paige of Texarkana, Julie Blackard Billy and Neil of Valliant, OK, Holly Garner of Denton, TX, Chip Garner of Meeker, OK, Patrick McCracken and Becky of Bellevue, NE, Kerri Bell Eickel and Eric of Nashville, TN, Joshua McCormick of Frankfurt, Germany, Daniela McCormick of Oklahoma City, OK; and five great-grandchildren: Kyle, Hailee, Paedan, Ashley, and Kaelyn. In addition she leaves many special friends and beloved pet T.J.
The family requests that donations be made in her memory to either O.M.R.F. (Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation) in Oklahoma City, Ok; or H.A.V.N. (Homeless Animal Volunteer Network) of Choctaw County at P.O. Box 82, Ft. Towson, OK. 74735.
