Funeral services for Joe Mahaffey will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at the Ft. Towson First Baptist Church with Rev. Dean Young and David Boom officiating and burial following in Ft. Towson Cemetery.

Joe Mahaffey, of Ft. Towson OK died Thursday, July 30, 2009 at the age of 79. Joe Mahaffey was born August 5, 1929 in Sawyer, Oklahoma the son of Urbon and Eddie (Irvin) Mahaffey. He had lived in this area all of his life and was a member of the Ft. Towson First Baptist Church.

He married Beatrice West on December 28, 1948 in Powderly, TX. Joe was a rancher and loved to fish, duck hunt, going to the coffee shop and corner grocery store. He was a bit ornery, loved to laugh and had a good sense of humor.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Beatrice in 2004; five sisters and two brothers.

Joe is survived by two sons: Wayne and Mary Mahaffey of Centerville, VA and Michael and Julia Mahaffey of Swink, OK; two daughters: Regina Mahaffey of Mesquite, TX and Joyce and David Boom of Lubbock, TX; one brother: Don Mahaffey of Hugo, OK; two grandsons: Joshua Mahaffey and Jared Mahaffey.

The family will receive friends Saturday, August 1, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Chapel.
