Funeral services for Betty Golden will be held Sunday, October 4, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Hugo with Rev. Doug McClure officiating, and burial following in the Ft. Towson Cemetery.

Betty Golden, age 72, died Thursday, October 1, 2009 in Clarksville, Texas. Betty Golden was born on April 27, 1937 in Ft. Towson, OK, the daughter of Webb and Myrtle (Carpenter) Thornburgh. She was reared in the Ft. Towson community, went on to college receiving her BA Degree in English at SOSU, then on to OU for her Masters Degree in Social Services. She moved to Dallas, Texas when she was young and worked as a secretary for two years in the Federal Reserve Bank, and was employed at Braniff Airways. She moved back to the county in 1962, worked for 30 years at the Department of Human Services, retiring as the Choctaw County Administrator. She was a member of the P.E.O., loved to read, and playing the piano.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother: Ronald Dwain Thornburgh.

Betty is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Ronnie & Debbie Golden of Ft. Towson, OK, Lynn & Barbara Golden of Detroit, TX; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Bob & Sarah Thornburgh of Swink, OK, Bill & Tenna Thornburgh of Mesquite, TX; four grandchildren: Josh Golden and wife Jessica of Talequah, OK, Jordyn Guest and husband Blake of Swink, OK, Vance Golden of Stillwater, OK, Lane Golden of College Station, TX; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 3, 2009 between 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends are invited to sign the guest book or send private condolences to the family at www.praterlampton.com. The family requests that donations be made in her memory to: Ft.
