Oaks, OK~ Funeral services for JoAnn Knight will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday September 21, 2012 at the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Tahlequah, OK with Rev. Jeff Grogan and Pastor Layton Reed officiating. Interment will follow in the Towie Cemetery under the care and direction of Hart Funeral Home in Tahlequah, OK. JoAnn Grasshopper Knight the daughter of Dick and Katie (Smith) Grasshopper was born September 3, 1940 in Tahlequah, OK and departed this life on September 18, 2012 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 72 years and 15 days.
JoAnn enjoyed life and had a love for going to the Flea Markets and garage sales. She loved antiques and collected lamps and other knick-knacks. She enjoyed fishing, crawdad hunting, and hunting mushrooms and wild onions. She enjoyed the holiday season when all of her family would get together for good food and fellowship. JoAnn loved her family dearly and left an impression on each one. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter Cheryl Grasshopper; and sons Danny Knight, George Knight III, and Robby Knight.
She is survived by a loving family which includes her husband George “Lucky” Knight of the home; her children Jan Grogan and husband Randy of Tahlequah, Homer Primeaux of Pryor, Carol Grasshopper of Oaks, Rodney Knight of Detroit, MI, Peanut Jones of Oaks, Sandra Beasley and husband Maurice of Tulsa, Tammy Quinn and husband Darren of Oaks, David Knight and wife Kathy of Tulsa, Kerry McNichol and husband Murray of Inola, Katy Knight and husband Bandy Toth of Muskogee, Gracie Knight of Oaks and she was raising her great grandson Orlando Gonzales of the home in Oaks; brothers Tom Whitener, Robert Whitener, and George Grasshopper and wife Dale; sisters Mary Lou Deerinwater, Mary Jane Washington, Peggy Bluebird and husband Phillip and Dorothy Bark and husband Floyd, 34 grandchildren and 49 great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives also survive her.
