TAHLEQUAH - Services for James Ulys Woodward, 64, of Tahlequah, will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 30 in the Green Country Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Bart Skipper. Serving as pallbearers will be Speedy Chaffin Jr., Tim Christie, Danny Deckard, Kevin Kinyon, Gib Taylor and Brian Maher. Honorary pallbearers will be Heath Bryan and Austin Bryan. Interment will follow in the Tahlequah City Cemetery under the care of Green Country Funeral Home.
James Ulys Woodward was born May 30, 1944 in Tahlequah, to James David Woodward and Norma (Warren) Woodward. He died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008 in Tahlequah at the age of 64 years.
James was raised in Tahlequah and enjoyed 29 years of marriage to his wife Patsy (Kinyon) Woodward. James had worked for Ozark Nursery, he was a manager at Midwestern Nursery and also had been employed as a bus driver for Briggs School.
He enjoyed raising strawberries at his home and had been a member of the Stilwell Strawberry Growers Association. He was a member of the Pentecostal Freewill Holiness Church at Briggs.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Norma and James Woodward, of Tahlequah, and a sister, Rosetta Claybourn, of Indiana.
He is survived by his wife, Patty, of the home; a son, James Dale Woodward and his wife, Patricia, of Keys; his daughter, Tammy Kelly, also of the home; one grandson, James David Woodward, Keys; a sister, Elsie Smith, of Tahlequah; a cousin, Christie Taylor and her husband, Gib; numerous cousins, friends, and loved ones.
