Funeral services for Walter Waldo Patton were held on Monday, May 13, 2007 at the Hart Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Allen Nolan of Cornerstone Fellowship officiating.

Intement followed at Tahlequah City Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home.

Walter W. Patton passed away early in the morning on Thursday, May 10, 2007, after reaching the age of 83 years.

He was born in Stilwell, OK on September 17, 1923, the son of George H. Patton and Oma (Thompson) Patton.

He served his country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corp during World War II. In 1950, he was called back into service as a member of the 45th Army National Guard and sent to Korea, where he was honored with the Bronze Star.

Walter married Dixie Vera Rose in Tulsa, OK on August 28, 1950, and together they raised two children.

He earned his living as a lineotype machinist, working for the Stilwell Democrat Journal and Tahlequah Pictorial Press before going to work for the Tulsa World for the remainder of his career. He was a proud member of the Tahlequah Masonic Lodge #10. After retirement, he assisted with the management of Patton Construction Company.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents and by one brother, Baxter Patton.

Walter's memory will be kept alive by his survivors; his wife, Dixie Patton, of the home, his children; son, Walter Alan Patton and wife Tonja of Tahlequah and daughter, Catherine Ann Leston of Tahlequah, his grandchildren, great grandchildren, his sister; George Ann Kindy and husband Gene of Stilwell and Catherine Johnnie Steinle of Fort Worth, TX, his brother; Jack Patton and wife Sharon of Stilwell, his uncle; Earl Patton and wife Jessie, his brother-in-law; Harvey Rose of Tahlequah, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones.
